Mary Shumate is a true Charlotte native — born and raised — a distinction that has become increasingly rare in a city of transplants. Having lived in Charlotte her entire life, she offers clients firsthand insight into how the city has grown and how its neighborhoods differ.

She began her real estate career in 1998 while serving as Marketing Director for Shea Homes, where she gained experience in new construction, model home design, and home staging. That background gives her a distinct advantage in preparing homes for sale and helping buyers recognize potential beyond what they see online.

A second-generation REALTOR®, Mary learned early that real estate is built on trust, service, and long-term relationships. Her business has grown primarily through repeat clients and referrals — a reflection of her commitment to communication, attention to detail, and client care.

Mary lives and specializes in South Charlotte but has extensive knowledge of the greater Charlotte region. She works with first-time buyers, experienced sellers, and relocating families, always focused on making the process organized, informed, and as stress-free as possible.

She is a graduate of Charlotte Latin School and the College of Charleston. She and her husband Sam, whom she met in 3rd grade, have two grown sons and two rescue golden retrievers.

Mary is actively involved in the Charlotte community and is licensed in both North and South Carolina. Mary is a member of local, state, and national REALTOR® associations.
